AMA Sapong was honored to join a panel of speakers at the Department of Physics, KNUST  to speak on “The Impact of physics in our world”, from the perspective of the energy industry.

Physics has played and continues to play a huge role in hydrocarbon exploration ;from geophysical surveys to delinating reservoir characteristics.

Regardless of this fact, the future of physics will continue to be of importance in the energy transition as well benefiting areas such as nuclear physics, solar PV applications, wind etc for creating a low carbon future.

Also in my interactions with the female students of the physics department, I found out about 90% of the ladies did not choose physics as the first option for their program of study. I emphasized the potential and opportunities for women in STEM, and by expanding on the vast career options outside of academia, it is my hope to inspire more females in the energy industry.
